Um Mami Marrakech – Culinary Hub & Gastronomic Experiences in Sidi Ghanem
Um Mami: When Moroccan gastronomy becomes an experience
Nestled in Marrakech's creative Sidi Ghanem district, Um Mami is much more than just a restaurant. It's a culinary and social hub founded by Claus Meyer—co-founder of the legendary Noma restaurant—under the auspices of the Melting Pot Foundation. Since its launch in 2022, Um Mami has established itself as a leading destination where contemporary gastronomy, Moroccan terroir, and social commitment converge around the table.
The space spans nearly 1,000 m² of professional infrastructure and offers a range of carefully designed culinary experiences for individuals, businesses, hotels and travelers seeking authenticity.
The Um Mami experiments
Private dinner
Um Mami hosts intimate dinners that blend traditional Moroccan hospitality with creative contemporary cuisine. A bespoke experience for private clients or corporate events, in a warm and unique setting.
Cooking workshops
Interactive cooking classes led by chefs and trainees, focusing on local ingredients, traditional Moroccan techniques, fermentation, baking, and contemporary methods. A gourmet immersion into the richness of Moroccan terroir.
The Shared Table
Um Mami's signature experience: a communal meal around a table, where Moroccan guests and visitors from all over the world come together around food, conversation, and cultural exchange. A rare and authentic moment in the heart of Marrakech.
Events & Catering
From corporate cocktail parties to brand activations and large receptions, Um Mami creates tailor-made culinary experiences rooted in storytelling, sustainability and social impact.
Culinary tip
Um Mami also assists restaurants, hotels and cultural institutions in menu development, team training, sustainable sourcing and the creation of gastronomic concepts.
An impactful project
Every experience at Um Mami directly supports the training and professional integration of young Moroccans from disadvantaged backgrounds. In 2025, the center graduated 318 young people, including 96 women, with an 80% job placement rate within six months of completing their training. This initiative restores gastronomy to its role as a driver of social and economic development.
