Borj Eddar la kechla or barracks

  • Historic Monuments

The imposing walls of this citadel date back to the Portuguese occupation between 1508 and 1514, as evidenced by the coat of arms of King Emmanuel I engraved on one of the citadel's towers. An imposing monumental gate leads directly to a vast platform decorated with old cannons, as well as a magnificent semi-circular tower offering a panoramic view of the city of Safi. This view notably includes its port, its medina, the R'bat minaret and the Potters' Hill.
