Born in 1989 in Moulay Idriss Zerhoun. Lives and works in Casablanca. In a social and family environment heavy with the values of the past, Khadija Jayi developed a singular resistance to the constraints that wanted to govern the future of the young girls around her. Aware that this situation destroys any desire for fulfillment, she began very early on in search of an ideal to give meaning to her destiny. Defying the rigorous spirit of a conservative environment with outdated principles implies a stubborn attitude and requires audacity considered an unforgivable affront. Thus, by rebelling against the oppression that harassed her, the teenager took charge of herself at her own risk, boldly defying the prejudices of a society frozen in the straitjacket of a spirituality assimilated to the history of her native village. Having knowingly placed herself in a situation of no return, she is determined to face without fail all the setbacks that could destroy her and hinder her path. "Through her research, Khadija Jayi has appropriated the language of fire: its light, its heat, but also fire as a form of suffering, to invite us to reflect on the conflicts between tradition and modernity. Her vibrant works are the result of an emblematic approach to forms and traces of burning. To approach with full knowledge of the facts the artistic universe that this young artist explores with passion and endurance, it is essential to refer to the events of her life. An experience of which she deeply bears the stigmata and that her art, in a surge of extreme sublimation, transforms into enigmatic signs full of questions and allusions.
