The Medina of Marrakech
The medina is the name of the old city of Marrakech. From the air it looks like a giant beehive, and inside the medina there are almost endless activities to do. From the most luxurious accommodation in the world, to a traditional Moroccan bath or hammam, to visiting palaces, markets and mosques, there is so much to see and do in the Marrakech medina!
Surrounded by some 19 kilometers of ramparts built in 1122, the medina of Marrakech is a World Heritage Site and bears the name of the entire historic center of the city. It is the oldest part of the city, also known as the old town. Until more than 100 years ago, the entire city of Marrakech and its commercial activities were located within these walls, certainly before it began its economic expansion.
