  • Public place
  • Essaouira

The construction of the Sqala de la Kasbah dates back to 1765, erected at the northwest tip of the Medina with the aim of protecting the city against maritime attacks. It consists of a two-level platform comprising several rooms initially designed for the storage of ammunition and weapons. At the foot of the sqala, along a small alley, are the marqueteurs' stalls. This building also houses a magnificent collection of Spanish cannons dating from the XNUMXth century.
