The Secret Garden – Architectural Discovery
Improbable... This is the first adjective that comes to mind when, behind the blind walls of Rue Mouassine, you discover Le Jardin Secret, a garden of several thousand square meters abandoned for decades, then magnificently restored.
It is now open to the public after eight years of work needed to bring this jewel, built in the purest Muslim tradition, to life. At the intersection of the paths, the fountain stands out as the living center of the garden with its two paths covered in zelliges, delimiting four irrigated flowerbeds.
At the Secret Garden, water is conveyed by a khettara system, a hydraulic system over a century old that fascinates with its engineering. Before entering the Islamic garden, take the time to stop in the first part of the palace where exotic plants lead you to the central pavilion.
Still have some energy left? Head up to the end of Mouassine Street to discover the Music Museum, an enriching cultural experience that perfectly complements your visit to Morocco's architectural heritage.
