The Port of Essaouira

  • Public place
  • Essaouira

Around the year 1770, Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah gave life to the Port of Essaouira, not only as an important shipyard, but also as a popular dining spot for visitors. Several restaurants on site offer menus adapted to all budgets, highlighting grilled seafood such as sardines, pageots, swordfish, sole and crabs, accompanied by salads and fruit. The freshness of the products creates a friendly atmosphere at the port, where a multitude of fresh fish sellers are busy in front of their stalls, alongside fishermen repairing their nets. The arrival of the trawlers, unloading their harvest, causes authentic excitement in the huge auction hall, offering a spectacle that is both captivating and magical.
