Located in the El Kelaa des Sraghna region, the Seguia Yaagoubia Educational and Recreational Park stands out as a flagship project of the Department of Water and Forests, offering a unique experience of contact between the urban and rural environment. This exceptional site acts as a showcase, highlighting the activities and missions of the department in terms of management, preservation and development of natural resources, both in terms of flora and wildlife.

A Classified Site of National Interest:

Recognized as a Perimeter of National Interest since 1952 by Vizériel decree, the park plays a crucial role in protecting the town of El Kelaa des Sraghna against flooding. The Department of Water and Forests has undertaken various conservation actions, including reforestation on 140 hectares, silviculture on 30 hectares, the construction of watchtowers and the installation of information panels.

Royal Conservation Commitment:

In 2012, the site was the subject of a partnership agreement involving the Department of Water and Forests, the Province, the Provincial Council and the Municipal Council of El Kelaa. Being a royal project, particular attention was paid to meeting commitments, contributing to the conservation of fauna and flora resources, and raising visitor awareness of natural ecosystems.

Diversity of Actions Undertaken:

The actions undertaken include not only conservation aspects, but also recreational development, the creation of recreational trails, the installation of gates and fences, and the establishment of infrastructure such as water troughs and a water reservoir. . The release of wild animals, notably Bighorn Sheep and Dorcas Gazelles, has contributed to the successful acclimatization of these species, with notable births.

Environmental Education Center:

The municipal council also built an environmental education center within the park. This center, currently undergoing technical study by the Department of Water and Forests, will become the showcase of the region's heritage, highlighting the richness of its natural and cultural heritage. In alignment with the new tourism strategy, it aims to attract more visitors, researchers, pupils and students.
