Madonna returns to Marrakech to celebrate the 2025 holiday season

The Queen of Pop returns to the ochre city

Seven years after celebrating her sixtieth birthday in the ochre city in August 2018, Madonna made a notable return to Marrakech for the 2025 holiday season. The global music icon once again chose Morocco as her preferred destination to welcome the new year, confirming her deep attachment to the Kingdom.

An authentic stay documented on Instagram

On December 30, 2025, Madonna shared a series of photos from her Moroccan vacation with her 20 million Instagram followers, simply titled "Moroccan Holidays." The images reveal a relaxed and curious artist, away from the usual spotlight, fully enjoying the unique atmosphere of Marrakech.

An immersion in Moroccan culture

The American star strolled through the iconic alleyways of the medina, pausing before colorful displays of babouches and leather poufs. The photographs bear witness to a true cultural immersion: mint tea enjoyed in riads adorned with exquisitely crafted zellige tiles, wandering through bustling souks, and discovering the artisanal treasures that have earned Marrakech its international reputation.

The Dar El Bacha Museum of Confluences was notably part of her itinerary, with a mint tea break carefully captured on film. This majestic palace, now one of the city's cultural gems, provided the singer and her family with an ideal setting to appreciate Moroccan art and architecture.

A getaway with family and friends

Madonna didn't travel alone for this Moroccan getaway. She was accompanied by her son Rocco Ritchie, her daughters Mercy James, Estere, and Stella, as well as her partner Akeem Morris. This family trip allowed the artist to share her passion for Morocco and its rich cultural heritage with her loved ones.

A tribute to the Kingdom

The performer of "Vogue" paid a vibrant tribute to Morocco by sharing a photo of the Kingdom's flag, a particularly symbolic context as the country was hosting the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Moroccan gastronomy and craftsmanship were also highlighted in her posts, thus promoting local know-how to her huge international community.

The stay continued with dinner at the Selman, a luxurious setting Madonna was already familiar with from a previous visit. The artist also experienced the culinary delights of La Table Secrète, located in the stables of this renowned hotel.

A spiritual dimension

The stay also took on a more intimate and spiritual dimension, with images showing Madonna lighting candles, a symbolic gesture that could be interpreted as both a celebration of Christmas and Hanukkah. This meditative aspect adds a particular depth to this Moroccan interlude, reflecting the artist's quest for meaning and contemplation.

A deep connection with Morocco

This isn't the first time Madonna has shown her love for Morocco. In 2018, she chose Marrakech to celebrate her 60th birthday, a celebration that generated immense media attention. On that occasion, she shared numerous photos of herself adorned with traditional Amazigh jewelry, earning her the nickname "Berber Queen" on social media.

In 2023, following the violent earthquake that struck the Kingdom, Madonna expressed her public support for Morocco, declaring that "Morocco holds a special place in my heart," and also called for donations to help the affected populations.

A top-notch ambassador for Marrakech

Madonna's presence in Marrakech for the 2025 holiday season represents a fantastic showcase for the ochre city. In a context where Morocco is attracting more and more international visitors, the media impact of celebrities like Madonna acts as an informal but powerful promotional ecosystem.

Her Instagram posts, seen by millions of people around the world, highlight Marrakech's tourist attractions: its exceptional architectural heritage, its refined craftsmanship, its tasty cuisine, and the legendary hospitality of its inhabitants.

Marrakech, a destination for the stars

Madonna thus joins a long list of international celebrities charmed by Morocco, including Rihanna, Beyoncé, Maria Sharapova, Lewis Hamilton, the Beckham family, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappé.

The Queen of Pop's return to the ochre city confirms that Marrakech remains a top destination for celebrities seeking authenticity, culture, and a change of scenery. Blending tradition and modernity, the city continues to fascinate and inspire visitors from around the world.
