THE OURIKA VALLEY
Populated mainly by Berbers, this valley gradually engulfs in the High Atlas of Morocco. Its proximity to Marrakech (only 30 km) makes it a privileged destination for a day trip or more, combining the discovery of a spectacular nature and a traditional mountain lifestyle.
Despite its proximity to Marrakech, this beautiful verdant valley is certainly one of the most preserved valleys in Morocco.
On these high Atlas mountains, and at 3200 meters altitude is the ski area of Oukaïmeden, the main ski resort of Morocco and Africa. At 74 kilometers from Marrakech, the southern boundary of the region, this tourist area is visited by locals, Moroccans from all over the country, but also by foreign tourists who want to discover an extraordinary and rare nature on the African continent. Skiers amateurs or confirmed will thus be able to benefit from a ski area of 300 hectares considered as the best equipped and snow covered of Africa, from December to March.
LAC LALLA TAKERKOUST
At 35 kilometers from Marrakech, an impressive dam opens its artificial lake.
Peaceful place, ideal for relaxation, it is the privileged place of Moroccans to bathe in the clear waters of this immense lake.
THE CASCADES OF OUZOUD
This village set in the bottom of superb gorges is accessible by a track more or less practicable according to the seasons. Halfway between the Toubkal to the south and the Oukaïmeden to the north, Imlil is a small picturesque village still relatively untouched by mass tourism, due to its difficult access.
THE HIGH ATLAS
The High Atlas stretches over 700 kilometers and offers a succession of summits of which a dozen reach the 4000 meters. Snow that persists all winter can appear at 1600 meters above sea level.
It was in 1922 that the Djebel Toubkal, which culminates at 4169 meters, was discovered by geologists as the highest peak in North Africa.
One hour from Marrakech, the village of Asni is set amidst orchards and gardens, in a very fertile valley. Its big weekly souk of Saturday brings the peasants for several kilometers to the round. Once their goods have been sold, they leave home at the quiet rhythm of their donkey.
At 40 kilometers from Marrakech and 5 kilometers from Asni is the Berber village Moulay Ibrahim. High perched, it offers a beautiful view on the valley. A place of pilgrimage for the Moroccans, and also a place of holidays, the village is a starting point for magnificent hiking or 4x4.
Once in the village, you will discover the narrow streets which hide delightful terraces where you can taste a tajine.
THE SWIMMING POOLS IN MARRAKECH AND IN ITS SURROUNDINGS
Places are multiplying and the offer diversifies to meet all expectations. Some will be dedicated more to a quiet day, while others will offer you a day with a DJ. For families, for party goers, for tourists in quest of farniente, you will necessarily find a swimming pool at your convenience, whether in the medina or in the neighborhood.
Different formulas exist: from the access to the park or the swimming pool by the day with restoration and various services.
Also be aware that some hotels and riads also have their own pool or pool, which you can refresh after an intense day of discovery.
