Born in 1956 in El Ksiba. Lives and works between El Ksiba and Marrakech. Writer, translator and visual artist, he has taught literature since 1982 and exhibited in the largest galleries in Morocco and abroad since 1990. He participated in the BienalSur, the great contemporary art biennial of Buenos Aires, and several of his works are part of major private and museum collections. Hassan Bourkia explores the fields of memory, the tragedies of immigration and the suffering caused by the trauma of conflicts around the world. Deeply affected by the intimate apocalypse he experienced, he works and exposes collective wounds by drawing on archives and fragments.
