Mausoleum Al Mutamid Ibn Abbad
Small locality located at the foot of the High Atlas 30 km from Marrakech, on the road leading to the Ourika. It is, during the Middle Ages, considered as one of the most important cities of the Muslim West.
It shelters indeed the remains of Al Mouaâtamid, great Andalusian poet and last prince of the dynasty of the Abbasids of the Kingdom of Seville, exiled in Aghmat. A mausoleum was erected for the prince, his wife Litimad Rmiqia as well as his son; it consists of a small dome imitating the Almoravid dome of Marrakech. The dome is decorated with verses composed by the prince-poet.
